ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has welcomed Afghan interest to become part of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Talking to Voice of America (VOA) on Monday, he said that Afghanistan has expressed its interest through its diplomat in Pakistan. The minister said earlier Saudi Arabia and Iran have also expressed their interest in CPEC. He said that the original purpose of the CPEC is to establish regional connectivity and trade bridge in the region.
He expressed his hope that regional trade through the CPEC would strengthen peace in the region. To a question, Ahsan said that the CPEC is most discussed and most debatable project of Pakistan while no agreement is hidden in this regard.
He said that the CPEC would be the game changer for backward areas of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
