LAHORE: Dr Yasmin from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a reference seeking Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification from the National Assembly on Friday.
Speaking to the media outside, PTI representative Naeem ul Haque revealed that Dr Yasmin had filed the reference seeking PM Nawaz’s disqualification. “We hope that as soon as the rest of the Election Commission members are appointed, the proceedings will then go on,” said Naeem.
Dr Yasmin said that they were in possession of important evidence and documents, which also included the Panama Papers. “The evidence which we have in our possession can disqualify the Prime Minister,” she said. “Imran Khan will hold a press conference at Bani Gala today and present the evidence,” she added.
Naeem expressed the hope that soon the matter of the appointment of the Election Commission members would be resolved so that the disqualification reference proceedings could go on. “We are also being consulted on the matter of the appointment of the members of the ECP,” he said.
PTI has alleged that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should be disqualified from the National Assembly seat he had won in the general elections 2013 for concealing his assets after the Panama Papers controversy came to light.
