RAWALPINDI: Indian forces once again resorted to unprovoked firing in Battal sector on the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistani troops befittingly responded to Indian unprovoked firing. India is continuously committing ceasefire violations on the LoC. Last week, Indian forces had violated the LoC as they targeted the civilian population.
Four civilians in Nakial sector had died while six others were seriously injured due to the firing.
Meanwhile, the Indian army claimed shelling from the Pakistani side had killed two of its soldiers at posts along the LoC. Five others, including three civilians, were also stated to be injured.
Martyrs day: The Jammu Martyrs’ Day was observed on both sides of the LoC and Pakistan on Sunday to commemorate the sacrifices of thousands of innocent Kashmiris.
Hundred of thousands of Muslim residents of the Jammu city and adjoining areas were slaughtered on November 6, 1947 while they were migrating to Pakistan.
This day is observed every year by the Kashmiris to remember over 250,000 Muslims of Jammu, including men, women, children and elderly, who were mercilessly slaughtered by the forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian Army and Hindu extremists in various parts of the region.
The day dawned with special prayers for the solidarity, integrity and prosperity of Pakistan and early liberation of the occupied Kashmir.
Special ceremonies including seminars and symposiums were held in all the 10 districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Kotli, Bhimbher, Bagh, Rawalakot, Palandri, Havaili, Hattiyan and Neelum Valley.
In Muzaffarabad, a function was held by the Kashmir Liberation Cell.
Speaking on the occasion, leaders and representatives of various political parties and social organisations said that by waving Pakistani flags in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmiris had once again given a clear message to the world that they would never compromise on their demand for self-determination.
Later, a protest rally was also taken out from the Central Press Club, which culminated at Gharipan Chowk.
In a statement, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhry Barjees Tahir paid tribute to the will of the people of occupied Kashmir on the occasion of Jammu Martyrs’ Day.
He said the Kashmiris would succeed in their struggle for right to self-determination. He said the Indian brutal acts would not deter the Kashmiris from continuing their freedom movement.
