ISLAMABAD: Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz made a public statement on Thursday with regards to the United States drone attack which killed Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour.
He said that Pakistan had paid a heavy price in this war on terror and is still paying. He said that 390 drone attacks have been made on Pakistani territory since the start of the war on terror in 2001, more than 60,000 lives had been lost and Pakistan had suffered a loss of more than $110 billion.
Sartaj called the drone attack “severe violation of the United Nations Charter”. He said, “According to our information Mullah Akhtar was not against the peace process”. He said that this attack had worsened the situation in Afghanistan and had further complicated the peace process. He said that American aid regarding the war against terrorism is insufficient and Pakistan is already suffering heavy losses.
He said that the dead body of Mullah Akhtar had not been handed over to anyone yet and it will only be handed over after the DNA test had been completed. He said that for two to three days, no one tried to make any contact to receive the dead body.
